Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland (360)

I think I’ve pretty much exhausted this now. I’ve cleaned up on missions and ranch pieces, done all the BMX “missions”, found all the pros and impressed them, and completed a pile of tramp money challenges and graffiti challenges only to find they never actually end. I’ve done all the Sponsor Challenges too, but it still shows only 40/70 done, even though all my stats are full and no shop has any challenges left to offer. Bizarre. Then, I went …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland (360): COMPLETED!

Into the Casino I went, and collected loads of skate pieces and chips, before making the mad dash back to the ranch avoiding the police. Which was really easy. I’m convinced it was bloody hard last time, but obviously not. Either that or I have Mad Sk8 Skillz now. And that was it. Green Pipes Point was mine (or rather, Iggy’s), and the credits rolled. Hurrahs!

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland (360)

Well, the BMX bit was easy. Like, really easy. In fact, I did it by accident. My memory clear isn’t right. Anyway, with that out of the way, and Boone rescued from the drainage pipe he was stuck in, it was off round all the locations to convince all the pro skaters to be in my video. A couple of them were a pain (like the Collect the Shoes one), but nothing too difficult. Off to the Casino next!

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland (360)

Finished off the Oil Rig by collecting some more bits for the skate park, and then skated back to the park myself to fix the crane with my spray can. No, really. After that, it was back off to Downtown to try and join the Black Widowz, which involved getting myself a tattoo, then spending aaaaaages trying the “manual through the million flags” challenge (which was really hard as I couldn’t keep up my momentum, until I realised I could …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland (360)

Still working through Story Mode on this. It seems a lot easier than I recall, but then, I haven’t reached the bloody hard biking bit yet. I’m dreading that, as I’m sure I almost exploded with actual rage last time. So today, I walked the Vans competition, got Iggy locked up, joined Skate Club (the first rule about Skate Club, is you don’t talk about Skate Club), impressed Tony Alva, wrecked the Big Wheel, and reached the Oil Rig via …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland (360)

Seeing as I’ve run out of Tony Hawk games, and the 360 version of this arrived last week having been bought for peanuts, so I’ve decided to play it. Yes, I’ve got (and completed) the Xbox version already, but that was over a year ago and I can’t wait until Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground which is supposedly out later this year. Anyway. So I’ve reached Vans, which (IIRC) is about a third of the way through the game. I’ve yet …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland: WASTED! AGAIN!

And now Classic Mode is complete as well. Ho hum. That means I’m all out of Tony Hawk games. I had managed to reach The Ruins (the last level on Classic) when playing earlier, but even after getting all of the goals, the game didn’t “complete”. Going back and doing some of the goals on previous levels (mainly Kyoto, in the end) did trigger the end sequence, however. After that, I played a few games of Trick Attack on Xbox …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland: WASTED!

Game number 53 completed! Hurrah! Found the last of the pro skaters, and found the entrance to the casino. Once in there, I had to snag a load more pieces for the skate ranch (some of which were pretty hard), and then the police chased me all the way back to the ranch. I expected to have to do some “final task”, like in THUG and THUG2, but no – that was it. Guy gets Dirrrty Mindy, Skate Ranch is …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland

Carried on from where I left off yesterday. I spent most of my time wandering around finding new bits for the Skate Ranch, including some velvet ropes, a shark’s head, and a big dome thing. Unlocked some new areas on the way, and had to do some board, bike and graffiti “missions” for the local “cholo” gang, The Black Widows. Had to get myself a tattoo as well, so as to fit in with them. After that, and some skating …

Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland

Getting into this now. I’ve done most of the training bits (which are irritating as I already know how to ollie, kickflip and breathe in and out, thanks – just let me get on with it), but still can’t perform flatland tricks. And I like to pivot, me. Collected a few more items for the Skate Ranch, like a giant pool ball and the tower from the top of a cinema. Nice.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (N-Gage)

Yes! The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. And yes! On the N-Gage! And again, yes! It is a bit crap! But I bought it today so really should play it whilst waiting for the Dreamcast and PS1 Tony Hawk games to arrive… No reverts. No manuals. No lip-tricks. No “tweaking” tricks. No backflips, forward flips or rolls. No balance bar (you have to rely upon the wonk angle of Tony). It’s a bit “old school” and no mistake. I also …

Tony Hawk’s Underground 2

After the success of last weekend’s Hawking, I started up this one today. Well, since American Wasteland is out now, I’d better get on it anyway. You start off in the Warehouse. Again. Never seen that level in a TH game before. Racked up most of my stats while I was there, and did the “training” things, which were somewhat menial given the number of TH games I’ve played over the years. “Perform three Ollies!”. How difficult. Then moved on …

2007: A Year in Gaming – Part 2

May May was more varied than previous months this year.¬¨‚Ć There was Eledees and Wing Island on the Wii, Crackdown, Lego Star Wars II and Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland on the 360, and the amazing Ouendan 2 on the DS, as well a plethora of 360 demos, XBLA games, and Wii VC titles. I struggled with the original NES Castlevania (on the VC) for a while too, and never did manage to complete it.¬¨‚Ć It’s just too hard! June Oh …
